1. C.W.A. vote for agents: With the merger process in full swing, legacy AA agents have to decide if they want to be represented by a Union again. The legacy US agents belong to the C.W.A./I.B.T. (Communication Workers of America/ Teamsters) and the National Mediation Board has called for a vote on whether the agents and reservations agents want to join the Union. 2. Contract Raises coming soon: Structural raises are due September 12th. I've attached the revision to Article 4 for both Title II and Title II employees to this email for your reference. The previous agreement did not have the correct increases because it was printed before the Memorandum of Understanding (M.O.U.) was in place. Please refer to the attachments for your pay increase and if you have any questions, please call the office and speak to an Officer. Please note the rates do not include shift differential, longevity or license premiums (Title II).
3. Warm and muggy weather coming: Now that we've survived the downpours form Thursday and Friday, weather forecasters are calling for very warm and humid weather this weekend. It starts Saturday and gets excessive on Sunday and Monday with heat indices near 100. This summer has been very tolerable to this point and this warm and muggy weather can be dangerous. Please pay attention to your body and take necessary breaks when needed. Please click on the OSHA heat stress link below for more information.
4. Preferential hiring Q & A: The other attachment to this email is the first batch off questions and answers for the letter of agreement regarding preferential hiring. Please read it over and if you have any questions, please call the office and speak to an Officer.
5. Envoy saga continues: I mentioned last week that management from Envoy (AE) and their Pilots union were going to have more discussions about reaching an agreement to keep Envoy flying the 76 seat RJ. Those talks ended yesterday without an agreement and the company then announced an agreement with another commuter feeder to fly some of the larger RJ's.
