Dear Chicago Colleagues,
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a colleague and good friend. On Thursday, December 5th, we lost Fleet Service Clerk Cesar Perez. Cesar has been part of the American Airlines Chicago family since October 4th, 1984 when he began his career with American Airlines. All who have been blessed to know and work with Cesar will tell you that they will miss his genuine warmth, kindness, upbeat/ positive attitude and his love for cooking. Cesar was also a committed husband and father who cared deeply for his family and they were the absolute priority in his life.
We are in contact with Cesar’s family and we are working to support them in any way possible during this difficult time.
The loss of a colleague can impact each of us differently. For those that would like to talk about it, we strongly encourage you to see one of the professional grief counselors that will be onsite to help. The counselors are from Optum Health, who manages our Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Counselors will be available to talk in either a group setting or privately, one on one in room 100 below gate K19 at the following times:
Friday, December 6th from 0830-1630
Sunday, December 8th from 0830-1630
Monday, December 9th from 0830-1630
Additionally, we will also have an on-site EAP representative available on the East mezzanine in the EAP office on Friday, December 6th and Monday, December 9th from 1200-1400.
In addition to onsite counselors, EAP counselors can be reached on a 24/7 basis by calling 1-800-363-7190. EAP is a great resource always available to any employee who wishes or needs to confidentially discuss personal issues with a trained counselor. Please do not hesitate to utilize this valuable benefit.
I would like to ask that all employees keep Cesar’s family and friends in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Let’s make sure we take care of one another and remember that everyone grieves in their own way. Please take advantage of the assistance available to you should you need it.
Sincerely,
The ORD Leadership team
