1. Prefunding update: The company responded to AA System Coordinator Dave Virella's letter requesting that the company match of our prefunding contributions be refunded. The company stated in the letter that they will refund the money when they have decided on what is going to happen to the retiree medical part that is still unresolved. For now, they are refusing to refund the company match of the prefunding and when the International decides on their next move we will pass that information along. I will get the actual letter tomorrow and send it to you for your records. If you have any questions, please call the office and speak to an Officer.
2. Transfer change: Currently, anyone seeking a transfer must wait 15 days after they file the transfer for it to become active. That goes away this week. Effective August 1, 2014 the 15 day waiting period for a transfer will no longer exist. The letter attached to this email explains the change. Please click on the link for more information.
3. International Rep visit: Tony McCoy, the International Rep. for Title II will be in ORD tomorrow throughTuesday. He will walk the shop floors and answer questions you may have. We will make every attempt to have him visit every shop and every shift before he leaves Tuesday afternoon. If you have any questions, please call Dennis Tate or Tom Schultz for more information.
4. AA profits soar: The company announced their second quarter financial results last week. They made an astounding $1.5 BILLION dollars off your hard work and sacrifices. As we move closer to the Joint Council and joint negotiations soon after, now is a good time to start thinking about the contractual issues that are important to you. While we all need more money in our pockets, please think about other important non financial items such as scope of work, station staffing, PT headcount and benefits. All are very important issues and for the first time in a very long time we will be negotiating with a sound financially promising company.
