Hello,
I ‘m George Volkl and I volunteered to serve as the Veterans Coordinator for TWU Local 512. I started work in 1984 as a Fleet Service Clerk for American Airlines at Chicago O’Hare and have worked in every department over the years. In 2008, I retired from the United States Navy after serving 28 years of both active and reserve duty.
I currently serve on the TWU International Veterans Legislation Committee helping to advance national legislation to improve veteran issues as they pertain to our fellow union members. Some of the most important things I do are assisting with benefits, advocating for member to management for those struggling with PTSD related issues, and assisting our union members and their families with military leave issues.
On Monday July 31, I will be setting up a Veterans table at the union picnic so if you have any questions regarding VA benefits, military leave, how to apply for service related medical care, or any veteran issues please stop by. I am starting an email list and/or group chat for veteran issues, so if you would like to stay informed see me at the picnic or contact me to sign up.
Regards,
George Volkl
