What's New Facebook Video Weekly Updates Local 512
May 3, 2024
My fellow 512 family,
At the beginning of this week, the TWU/IAM Association notified American Airlines of the intent to commence negotiations on all the TWU/IAM Association Collective Bargaining Agreements. It was a notice to start an early opening in accordance with Article (3) three of the respective Collective Bargaining Agreements and Section 6, Title 1 of the Railway Labor Act.
The first step in the RLA negotiations process is an exchange of Union and Company opening proposals. Then, it moves to direct discussions between American Airlines management and the Association, with across-the-table bargaining, which will most likely happen in the latter part of the fall.
The TWU/IAM Fleet Negotiations Committee will meet from May 20 to May 24, 2024, to continue discussing contract proposals and meeting regularly thereafter.
The M&R and Related has reissued its Facilities maintenance and GSE survey. You can click the QR code on the bulletin in your work areas.
In our recent efficiency meeting with the VP of AA ORD Operations, Ben Humphrey, and his operation department heads, we discussed several items, including unsolicited calls from Manning before a member's shift start, which the company agreed to stop. Envoy employees congregated at the IAB lunch room. Lunch areas should only be used for lunch or breaks. We discussed moving members off their bid line and replacing them with a pool. This should not happen unless that member is not qualified. We continue the discussion on the ABM bus service. We are seeing more Envoy employees gravitating to the K19 bus stop. The Company is looking to add a stop at the L Stinger to alleviate this issue. Due to the G4 and G6 gates opening, we asked the company for badging access on the G side.
Due to the efficiency meeting, we had no weekly meeting with the operation managers this week.
We have lessons due on May 8, 2024. Please complete them to avoid any issues. Continue to request time from your manager or control to complete these lessons, and if you are refused, you can contact us at the field office. We asked for an extension due to several issues with completing these lessons. Hopefully, the company will extend the time.
Safety alert from our Safety team: The Department of Aviation Chicago is cracking down on seat belt violators. Please take caution and always wear your seat belt when driving in the AOA, including at the gate.
Also, we had our M&R and Related (GRB) Grievance Review Board meetings this week. We presented our grievance to the board and await their decision.
Finally, we ordered 9000 Sqwinchers electrolyte freeze pops for the summer, and they are available at the field office, Cargo, GSE, and Facility Maintenance.
Sincerely and fraternally,
Juan Elvira
